I stopped by Crane a while ago, I'm going back today... they picked out the PowerMax 2030 for me... 700R4 and 3.23 rear end, and an LB9:

Fuel Pressure Regulator (99470-1) recommended for maximum performance. (50 state legal for listed applications, C.A.R.B. E.O. D-225-22) Basic RPM 1500-5000 PowerMax
2030

The tech (from last time) selected the 5-spd camshaft; I don't remeber if it was because I was already running the exhaust and headers, or what. They're going to be paired with World S/R Torquer 305's. I'm heading back out to Crane one more time today to talk to their tech guys again before I order all the parts (because I don't know which rocker arms and lifters I'll need; I also don't know if the springs the heads come with are enough for the cam bebcause I'm still new to working on the car). Anyways, enough rambling... just looking for any opinions/help. Oh... also, anybody know of any off the shelf chips that would go good with this combination? I know laying down the cash to get a custom chip is best but I'm running on a tight budget :/ Thanks.

This is the cam that the their tech reccommended for me too-87 LB9 Auto. I felt that the cam was a little on the mild side and increased it to

214* 220*
.452 .465

2000-5500 rpm.

I also got a vigilante 5 disc converter with that cam and the difference was great compared to the penut cam that I had before hand. The idle a little rough for 5 minutes on a cold start-up but then it smooths right out.

My advice-go for the bigger cam and up your converter while you're at it.

im putting the 2032 cam in my 305 too.

RMK how does it sound at idle, can you tell by just hearing the exhaust note that it has a cam or is it just a smooth exhaust note?

When it's cold it sounds rough and lopey (although the lopeyness could also be attributed to my TPS set wrong and IAC needing cleaned) but when it warms up it doesn't sound too much different from stock. Although it has been over a year since I have heard the peanut cam. Sounds good when you slam your foot in the **** pile though

I have a Comp cam (non-roller) in my 305.

Specs are 210/220, .500/.510. It has helped me break into 13s with little else.

I don't have enough $$$ for the converter right now too... eventually. Thanks for the advice though. Next summer I think I'm gonna go with 3.73's (Crane tech recommended the 3.73's despite the book recommending this cam for 2.73's and 3.27's), SFC's and a strut tower brace. Maybe more depending on how much all that stuff runs
