EGR on Vortec Heads: Plumbing
This picture shows the EGR supply tube. This tube must be plumbed into the exhaust manifold or header for proper function of the EGR valve.

I was wondering... Can the EGR tube just be tapped into the AIR tubes, or does it Have to be a seperate weld into header thing?

For EGR to work properly, you'd want to connect it by it's own bung and tube because the AIR pipe is supplying fresh air into the exhaust stream. One of the main points of the EGR tube is to route warmer, less-burnable exhaust air into the intake to help lower combustion chamber temps... fresh air from the AIR pipes would defeat this purpose...
If all you're trying to do is seal up the system, go for it. Not sure what pressure the AIR pump runs at, so expect a check engine light to illuminate...

what if you cut the small pipe from the air tube and used that to connect the egr tube to the header. I bought a tube and weld bung but I would have to remove the header to weld the bung on but I could probably weld the bung on the air tube I have to cut anyway. DO you think it would flow enough?
