It can never bolt up. Here's a picture why, it is with a standard carbed intake but it makes no differance, the HSR is the same port and bolt pattern wise.

Never say never. This is straight off of GM's website

The Vortec heads have a unique eight-bolt pattern for the intake manifold. Earlier twelve-bolt intake manifolds can be used, but the heads must be drilled and tapped for this configuration. Use gasket (P/N 10148096) as a template to lay out the bolt hole locations for the 3/8-16 bolts. GM Performance Parts' Vortec dual-plane aluminum intake manifold (P/N 12366573) also may be used in applications where a dual-plane manifold is acceptable.

Go here http://www.gm.com/cgi-bin/pr_display.pl?367 to read the rest if you want. But as the picture John posted shows, some intakes don't have enough material on the edges to cover the ports. I don't know whether the HSR would work or not, but some intakes do work.

HSRs have very little extra material around the edges of the ports. You'd need a little aluminum welded to the intake to get a Fel-Pro 1206 to match up and have enough meat to seal, so a high-port head would be worse.

Does GM still see that ram-jet intake?

Good point Ed. That's the way to go if you're set on those fastburn heads. It's a pretty underrated intake IMO. I'll be installing a RamJet topped ZZ4 in a friend's car later this fall if he'd quit screwing around with the little crap.
