I can't believe they closed the thread on a GP

Why was the post I made to build up interest on GP purchase for an Vortec TPI Intake closed? I personally have no ties to the company and was just trying to save myself and fellow thirdgenners some money...Not even sure if we'd be able to get one. I haven't spoke to the company in question, I was just trying to get an idea of interest that I could us to negotiate with them.

By the way....since when does SLP advertise on the site...I distinctly remember seeing a GP for headers a while back, as well as for the Firebird aerowing from some other company.

Just curious to why this policy exists?

The sponsors make this site possible and anything that might cause them a moment of pause about renewing their ads has to go immediately.

Start your own site, you get to make your own policy. And pay for the Internet bandwidth, and the server hardware, and the disks...

Don't like it, you can always take your valuable knowledge elsewhere.

Does SLP sponser this site? Because I know there is GP post on SLP headers floating around.

And here are few others from recently

https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...group+purchase

https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...group+purchase

https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...group+purchase

Are all these sponsers?

I understand trying to provide a value for your sponsers to advertise here, but the prodcut I suggested is only available through 1 company and is not in direct competition with the sponsers of this site(for this particular product), unlike the above links that are direct competitors of your sponsers and are allowed to thrive.

If this site has a policy, I can respect that, but it should try to apply this policy thorughout, not only on members it might not know. It seems to me that the above GP are started and participated in by senior members and a moderator or two.

I simply took example from other posts so don't get so offended and be quick to ask me leave, attitudes like that will eventually harm your cause not help it.

I think the the ONLY NON-SPONSORED group purchases that should be allowed should be for products that none of the current sponsors offer.

Take the Vortec TPI intake for example: NONE of our current sponsors offer it, nor would it take buisness from them. If none of the sponsors offer one perticular product, then how could it be stepping on their toes? If Thunder Racing feels like making the Vortec manifold, then fine... make the group purchases for them and only them. But like I said before, they dont, so what effect does an external group purchase have on this site or its sponsors? None. All it does is save members money.

Man, are you trying to dig things out of nothing. The only one of those with any possible complaint is the ASCD one. The other two are on regional boards, and just to explain.. ever notice they are non-tech? I can tell you for a fact the So Cal board does not fall under the normal rules here, Dirk was kind enough to let us 'borrow' the board space we are using.

Rules change all the time. Before you go dig up a post from a year ago like SLP something, I know Brad's intention is to only have GP's with products sold through advertising suppliers. If you didnt know that, well, you do now. Other boards I can think of do the same thing. If you want to whine about it, go send an email.

I wish Ed or Kevin would show and lock this or delete it already. Read the new sticky at the top... tech only? Maybe you should.
