Question w/ SLP cam in 91 Z28
Question w/ SLP cam in 91 Z28
My buddy has a 91 Z28 w/ the 350 tpi. He just picked up a used SLP cam and we need to know if we have to replace the stock valve springs..when I did heads/cam on my 91, I replaced everything..but he is on a limited budget. and would prefer to use stock springs an everything if possibe. I am worried the stock springs will get stressed from the huge lift on this cam....
lift
in .502
ex. 510
what do you guys think..just wait till he can afford some nice comp cams springs? or will this work w/ stock ones?
any help will be apreaciated.

That's too much lift for stock springs,
plus you should cut the valveguides down as well so the retainers do not hit or destroy your valve seals.

get new LT4 springs and retainers along with new locks, thats all something like $50 and you ok, LT4 springs are good for a max lift of .525"
