Hey all

I'm looking into buying a TPI ('88 LB9)engine for my '87 SC. Found one for a decent price, but it doesn't come with a distributor.... do I have to purchase a TPI specific distributor (looking at used ones) or can I get away with using a TBI one, say from a Caddy or the like?

I would say that you would need the small cap distributor with the divorced coil, because of the lack of space behind the plenum

 

Really? I wonder how GM squeezed the coil-in-cap distributors in there back in 85 and 86 then...?

A TBI distributor will work.

I picked up the engine last nite, and brought it home :-) Can't wait to install it! Glad to know that a dist from a TBI engine will work, I was sure it would but I just wanted to make sure first.

EDIT:: Picked up a distributor this past thursday, from the local yard... cost me only $38cdn too! Also got the fuel lines I needed for $15
