In-Line fuel pump?

I have a 350 tpi and in the past year I have gone through 2 fuel pumps. I had someone else do it for me and at least this one is under warranty so hopefully it will get replaced for free without having to pay for labor. If this one goes bad I am thinking about taking the fuel pump out of the tank and puting an electronic fuel pump in the line so it is easier to get to. I have read that they are a little louder on the outside but I am not really worried about this. I am wanting some info from people that have done this and how to go about doing it. I would think that it would work just the same as having the pump in the tank but I am not sure. Any and all help would be appreciated.

I went in-line as well. In-tank pumps last about 10 times longer, but for ease of replacement, I like the in-line.
I can change mine out in minutes. Takes longer to jack up the car than change the pump.

It does get quite noisy, but it doesn't bother me.

i have both in-tank and in-line but mainly because of my heavy fuel requirements with the driveline.

if it's noisy just wrap it with insulator that cut the noise down 3/4 on mine. have of the noise was from the vibration against the metal.

what in-tank pumps are you using? i have an upgraded gm that works great and i know the walbro 255 units work really well also. my inline is an ati pump that also works quite well.

good luck
