Can I use an ECM from a 88' 305 Iroc w/ tpi on a 88' 350 Iroc w/ tpi ?

 

The ECMs are the same. Only the Memcal is different (what most people call the "chip").

 

Thank You, I'm about to purchase one on ebay for about 10 bucks, so I am going to have to replace the memcal, about how much do you think the memcal will run me? and do you know where I can get one, also the car itself is not an 88 iroc, its an 82' z28 that originally came with a 305 HO, I swapped the original engine and transmission for an 87 350 HO from a caprice and a th-350 from I dont know what, will any of these details make a difference? Thanks!

 

Isn't the 87 a TBI if it came from a Caprice? Are you also installing a TPI intake? If not, then the the ECM won't work. TPI ECMs do not work on TBI cars and vice versa.

 

I'm sorry, I forgot to add that the Tpi is from an 88 IROC, Im swapping the rochester quadrajet and intake that came w/ the caprice engine with the IROC TPI, right now the tpi is sitting in my bedroom. Thanks again.

 

Its a complete tpi system minus the distributor, fuel pump, and ecm, hence the ecm question, also any tips on a distributor and fuel pump would also be appreciated.
