set timing, forgot to plug in 4 pin connector...
Hopefully this doesnt fall under one of the banned type timing questions, its a bit different...
On my TPI Monte which I finally started up tonight after the long swap, I set the timing obviously first then cranked it, it wanted to go but didnt turn over fully. I then realized I didnt plug in the 4 pin connector to the back of the distributor, and then plugged it in. Oops.
My question is: Since I plugged in the brown/black stripe wire by the heater core and cranked it before I plugged in the 4 pin wire on the distributor, would that effect anything? I mean if I would of plugged in the 4 pin first then the brown/black stripe before starting it would it possibly run differently(better?
) or would it have no effect at all? TIA.

I don't think it will have any effect at all. But maybe try disconnecting your battery (after connector is hooked up) in case it stored an ECM code.

Disconnecting the 4 wire connector didn't hurt you none. It's just like unplugging it on the old computer controlled carb set-up to do timing, since they didn't typically have the seperate connector the EFI cars have.
