Letting us know where it's leaking might help. On the plenum or the intake? What intake have you got? I found that the machined surface on the accel base isn't quite big enough for the runners to sit properly. 5 minutes with a grinding tool will fix that problem. Assuming nothing is warped, my guess would be that you've got some sort of similar issue with the parts not matching up perfectly.

Yeah, that's got to be it.

I never tried fitting my SLP runners to the stock base, but it's possible that there's still an interference issue. Try to install them without gaskets and see if there's a problem with something interfering or if they are just warped. You need to figure out why they don't fit before you can figure out how to fix it.

I've got SLP runners on my stock base and they fit fine. Have you checked the runner surfaces with a straight edge?

What tightening sequence are you using? Try alternating top to bottom and left to right in small increments. Thats what I had to do and I used this stuff called Aviation Form-A-Gasket and have never looked back.

You give up too easy. If you can't get these to fit you're in for a rude awakening when you try to get the Super Ram on there. Figure out your problem with these first.

Trust me I have not given up easy, I have been fighting with this thing for almost a week!! I installed a buddy's super ram in an afternoon with no problems. I am gonna give it one more crack tonight with a friend of the family that has been building engine's and tranny's for over 15 year's, if this does not work, trust me nothing will. I just think with the condition these thing's came in, that it would not suprise me that they would'nt fit!!

For three days I thought I was fighting the same battle with my SLP runners and a vacuum leak. It turned out the cold start injector needed trimming because the fat runner interfered with the CSI bracket. 10 seconds with an angle grinder, BAM! Vacuum leak fixed.

Guess that doesn't help much on a 91 though...

No, but thank's for the info guy's. I think it could be one of the injector o-ring's from when I popped the rail up 1/2" to get the pass. side runner in Hopefully that's what the problem is!!

leak

My csi is leaking and when I first start the engine I can hear it leaking untill it heats up then the noise seems to go away. It idles high around 1000 but after a minute or two its back to almost normal. If you have any feedback on the email me. thanks andy akobak@kent.edu

Yes it idled, but VERY poorly. If I revved it, it would come down, hunt a little bit, then stall. I found the leak with short blasts of carb cleaner. Small sprits of carb cleaner towards a gasket, then wait for a slight jump in RPM. Keep trying other gaskets unti you find one that makes the idle go up a bit, then settles back down.

Ditching a pair of runners, going to Super-Ram, expecting that monster to be easier assembly?

This is going to be a fun show.

If you don't have anything to add to a thread other than a rolleyes smiley, you should go find something else to do.

91wtROH17's, have you straight edged the runner flanges? And which runner gaskets are you using? Are you using any kind gasket maker or glue?

Thank's acceld, I used some GM gasket maker on the lower gaskets and put new one's on the top aswell. Work's great now. Those SLP runner's are crap to work with. Ohh ya and Kevin, I have installed a superram, it's not fun, but also not that difficult.
