Code 13 -- bad O2 sensor?

I tried doing a search but search doesn't like 2 character words

I'm getting a Code 13 when cruising on the highway. It doesn't come on around town, just on the highway. Comes on and stays on until I shut the car off.

Car is a '92 GTA 5.7L. The car had been sitting since December. Driven only twice since then. This past weekend I took it out of storage. Change the plugs (hadn't been changed in 4 years! 6 were fine but 2 smelled of gasoline) and the oil. Been driving it since the weekend and I get the code.

I know there's various reasons for that code but under the circumstances, is it possible its just a bad O2 sensor?

Don't have much time for proper diagnosis, simply changing it would be easy. Guess since the car has 120,000 miles its probably a good idea to change it anyway.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

Code 13 is not a trouble code. Its the code your computer flashes when its in diagnostic mode. Code 13 will flash 3 times, then your acual trouble codes will be flashed, 3 times each.

Actually 13 is a code, you are thinking about 12

I would just go ahead and change the sensor, its probably been in there for a while. Also make sure that the wire is not burned and the connections are not corroded, that can also throw the code. And don't forget to reset the ECM after you change the sensor.

Cool thanks.

No code on the way to work this morning (stop and go traffic pretty much) but on the way home I hit a stretch that opened up and when I hit about 70... bam! SES.

I'll get a new sensor.
