Swapping to LT1 on a tight budget...

  • LT1 intake minus rails/injectors $50 shipped
  • Low mileage rails from Ebay $80 shipped
  • 9000 mile 19# Mustang injectors $80 shipped
  • '87+ distributor/coil/wires/misc $87 shipped

The modifications to the manifold (clearance for distributor/distributor hole/EGR block/etc) will all be done in my garage shop myself. Now all I need is the fuel lines/connectors that I will probably have made locally for $40 or so. With gaskets it should still be less than $400 for the convertion. I should be able to get more than that for the stock TPI units and SLP runner set up, even more if I powder coat it before I sell it. It could actually pay to convert to the LT1 set up!!!

I'll have pics soon of the LT1 intake after the modifications are done and it's powder coated. I can't wait!!!:lala:

Don't forget the cost of the MAF/TB plumbing, and possible reprogramming of the ECM.

Thsi should prove interesting, Keep us posted on the progress.

The MAF/TB plumbing is already modified anyway on the TPI setup to the cost of about $38 in materials plus the filter I already had.

The ECM is already reprogrammed via PP2 and a Moates adapter. The only other thing I need is a remote thermostat housing that I can hopefully pick up cheap at a swap meet/Ebay/or other form. The radiator hoses I should be fine with from other projects I've had.

A bit of slight cost for materials to fabricate the distributor spacer/EGR block off plates/etc, but those pieces I should be able to find in scrap at the metal supply shop really cheap, or in my metal pile in the corner of the garage.
