Dyno Results
Went to the dyno the other day and the results are not great but not too bad considering that the engine still has the peanut cam and unmodified heads and base which together are robbing the engine a lot of potential. But the good thing is that this will serve as a baseline for future mods(mods list in sig link). The runs were done on 3rd gear so it starts at a pretty high RPM already.
The results were: 184 RWHP / 280 RWTQ
Here is the dyno sheet:
http://home.earthlink.net/~ozvresto/GTA/dyno1sm.jpg
I had previously done some datalogging using WinALDL and it was showing the Fuel/Air Ratio to be way too rich. So the fuel pressure is coming down. At the time I was also running 10deg base timing but it was showing some knocking around 3200 RPM, so I had to set it back to 8deg which is were it ran in the dyno.
Next on the agenda is to get that cam changed and the heads worked on. The cam I am considering is the CompuCam 2030 (adv. 260/270, @.05 204/214, lift 429/452, LSA 116). I know this is just a 305 but I don't have money trees in my backyard, it will have to do until I get a 350 block and bolt everything to it.
We'll see what happens.

I wouldnt even bother with the cam you listed. Thats basically a stock L98 cam. If your on a budget, look into the LT1-LT4 cam or a zz4 cam. They can be had usually for around $100-150.

I agree... I think you should definately think about the ZZ4/LT4 HOT cam. Maybe get some 1.6 rockers.. do some work on the intake/heads. You'll be good to go..
Hey Ozzy...
You might remember me. I had the Red GTA at the Trans Am show a year back. Anyway...I have an extra L98 cam, and a pair of 305 heads with perimeter bolts, or maybe even an extra pair of L98 iron heads if your interested...cheap of course.
I do have a brand new LT4 Hot Cam and corresponding timing chain that I might not use if your interested.
Just PM me if your interested.
BTW...those are some good numbers I think for a 305 to the rear wheels, especially for a peanut cam

Maybe get some 1.6 rockers..
Hey, long time no hear from you. I've been gone for a while, just hanging around the GTA Source Page, not much going on there anymore. I did some pricing at a Pensacola shop on some head work and I can get them done for about $300. That is with 1.94" intake valves, 3-angle, tapping for screw-in studs, and doing the deck. So I am going to re-use my heads. Thanks for the offer.
Now what about a cam that will work with 1.6 rockers without going too big on lift.

The LT4 hot cam I have (which is brand new) comes out to .525/.525 with the 1.6 rockers...I may decide to use it anyway, even though it likes stealth ram or miniram type induction.
If you want to go cheap and use L98 cam I can trade you for some prom help...lifts would come to .442/.459 with the 1.6 rockers...
I think your zz4 cam lifts may be off as well, but I can't say off hand what they should be. Most like the ZZ4 cam with a TPI set up.
Ozzy, I just thought you might like to use a spare set of heads...lots of them around at local yards for cheap ($20-$30)
Where did you get your car Dynoed at...P'Cola or Crestview?

Sorry for the delay in responding. To calculate the lift when using the 1.6 rockers I used the following formula:
New lift = Lift / 1.5 X 1.6
I got the car dynoed at Adams in Crestview.
As far as the heads I might just do that, buy a set and practice on before doing mine. Thanks,
-Ozzy
