AFPR or Fuel Pump?

I am using a fuel pressure guage taped to the windshield and no matter what I adjust the AFPR to, it drops to about 38lbs at WOT. I even adjusted the pressure to 60lbs with the vacuum line off and again when i ran it, back to 38lbs. I did notice at that pressure, the needle jumps constantly about 10lbs. On one of the runs I left the vacuum line off the entire time to determine if vacuum was a factor, same results.

My question is whether or not it is my AFPR or Fuel Pump? Something else all together?

Any advice is appreciated.

I'm really not sure what the problem is but I can tell you that if you run the fuel pressure at 60 for too long then the fuel pump will become a problem. Sixty is waaayyy to high IMO.

I know that! It was a test to see if there was any way to increase the pressure at WOT. Can someone assist with providing me an answer to my questions? I would like to replace the trouble maker today.

I've done the fuel pump job on a buddies car and not looking foward to doing it again. Especially if I complete the job and still have the problem with fuel pressure.

Thanks.
