TPI Capabilities?

Hey guys - I normally putz around the TBI boards, but I've found the TPI system quite intriguing and have a few questions I'd wonder if you could amuse.

1. I've been surfing your boards and a lot of guys are running around 1/2 an inch of lift with a lot of duration in their TPI motors, are the TPI induction systems that much more adaptable to cam modifications? For example, I thought I heard that the later TPI's were mass-air-flow - which (if i remember my history) is a system that personally calculates the amount of air going into a motor, so it doesn't matter the displacement *within reason* to the computer and such, is this true?

2. Assuming that a clean T-5 305 IROC can be had, how much would have to be changed to put in say...a 383? I'm figuring the MAF system could adapt somewhat, but would a new knock sensor, knock filter, and adjustable fuel pressure regulator (and gauge) be a good start?

I'm just kinda biding my time until my next project. I've already done a 305 to 350 swap with my TBI and have been very happy, but i'd like to do another EFI engine swap/buildup, only this time without touching my computer what-so-ever. I hate chips. lol

Actually, the later TPI setups are Speed Density, which uses a Vacuum sensor to "assume" air flow. Personally, I have found it easy to "tune" for modifications. I installed an LT4 Hot Cam in my TPI car (I also have ported TFS heads, Accell base, AS&M runners, etc...) and had a very lumpy idle from extra duration, however 2-3 PROM burns and a minimum air adjustment got it purring like a kitten.

Interesting, and the LT4 cam is fairly aggressive isn't it? So the speed-density seems easier to tune? What is there on the induction system that you can 'tune'? (i.e. - on the TBI there's fuel pressure, ect.)
