What's the difference??

You guys, How can you tell the difference between a 305 TPI and a 350 TPI?? A buddy of mine is looking at getting a 1988 GTA and he's not sure if it's a 305 or 350 TPI...........Lemme know

Well, one of the easiest ways would to be to check the VIN with the decoder at this site's home page...

Engine Code, position #8 from left to right on VIN:

F = 5.0L V8 TPI (LB9)
8 = 5.7L V8 TPI (L98)

I understand your question as:

if you are standing in front of a stand alone tpi system (detached from the engine).. the only difference is the injectors and the chip.

I pretty sure the position of the oil cap is different...no?
On my 305tpi, the oil cap is located on the drivers side rear on the valve cover. The pcv valve is located on the front part. I thought this was reversed for 350's...
