Superram gurus

I had a question about my superram. Not the plenum or runners but actually the intake itseld. I bought this setup used and when I got it, I seen there is a pan of some sort bolted to the bottom of the intake. What is this pan and what is it's purpose? The reason I ask is because I noticed 3 out of the 4 bolts where snapped right off and just barely being held in there so I have to get them retapped if it plays an important part

i know what your talking about.... I think it helps keep the hot oil away from the bottom of the intake and keep the baseplate cooler. (cold air flowing through the intake is best). i put on an edelbrock high flo intake but forgot to take that part off my stock intake and and attach it to the edelbrock base. i realized my mistake after the base and super ram were completly installed.. so i was in a spot take it completly apart and start over or hope that it wasnt to important and the car would run well......... i never installed it and the cars running great ... when i do a ZZ4 i'll fix it.... so you really dont need it but if ya think you can drill ,tap and use it it can't hurt to have in...........Eric
