Miniram question
I have a miniram that I am going to be putting on my engine when I get it back from powdercoating. I have also cut the IAC port so it fits under the TB and because I wanted to do the water bypass. The stock TPI has a "U" shaped hose that goes from the intake to the IAC water passage then to the water bypass valve. With this setup the fitting on the front of the intake is a 1/2" NPT to barb. The miniram has a 3/8" NPT hole in the front but it is further over to the right (passenger side).
Uhh basically I am wondering how you miniram guys are running a stock type heating system if you chopped the IAC? Any pictures or sugestions?
I recomended to my friend that he use a 3/8" close nipple then a 90 elbow and a 4" nipple so he can connect the hose to. Is this how anyone else did it?
Thanks

Wish I could help you but I am not using the throttle body coolant passages. Are going to drive the car in the winter? If not, I wouldn't worry about it.. Just my opinion.
I'm scratching my head, when I did my MiniRam swap I just moved the coolant fitting straight from the TPI base to the Mini..no adapters needed, the hole was the same NPT thread and size.
I removed the heater bypass valve completely, just ran 5/8" hose from the fitting mentioned above straight to the heater core, then 3/4" hose from the outlet to the radiator inlet.

First let me say that i am using a Griffin Rad., Stewart water pump, and the MR III intake. The Griffin does not have a fitting for the heater, so...i took the stock heater hose from the core(closer to the pass. side that runs along the pass. side frame), and ran a 90* elbowed hose up under the alternator and up to another 90* hose from the outlet on the Stewart pump. That took care of that stock hose, (from heater core to stock radiator). Now for the TB hose from the heater core, i used a stock style hose, but when it meets the TB, I just ran a 180* hose from the opening on the intake to this hose. Does that make any sense?? I connected these hoses using regular copper pipe and hose clamps. Looks "OK" if you actually look for them and find the connections! So far so good for me. Motor has been running for maybe 10 mins. without any leaks or any other issues that need to be addressed, besides basic tuning like timing and fuel pressure. Idles pretty well too. Now, i have not used the heater yet to see if it works. It has not been used in maybe 2 yrs. Before the winter i am going to have it checked out anyway, so i am sure i will find out if i did it correctly. If not then i'll have to re-route things a little differently! I know, pictuers would help but i do not have any right now. Sorry. --Hey Neil, hows it going? Well i finally got my car together. This weekend will be the big road test! lol The car so far idles well with that Ed Wright chip in it. Still up for helping me get into prom burning? I have a lap top now so it will be a little easier to get a grasp on tuning with the tuning done IN the car now. So, how's yours running? Wish i had the extra cubes and a bigger cam!! lol I'll talk to ya. Sorry for hijacking your thread Scooter, hope i helped instead of confusing you more. good luck
