Well, I have been fighting an annoying problem and have yet to find the cause. I get a large amount of spark retard at low RPMs under light load cruising. It really sucks... I have tried many things and many people have offered leads as to what to try, so far nothing has worked. I did disconnect the knock sensor and turn off the knock diag and found that I had no more trouble. Car ran great.
So now I want to know what any of you out there are doing. I can't seem to fing the cause I of knock, or what the knock sensor thinks is knock. I have ruled out nothing because I have not really found anything that I would condemn.
So, here's my question...
Does anyone not use a knock sensor on there TPI equipped cars?
I know the carb guys don't and I don't really NEED it, but since it is there I would like to have it operational just in case. Well, anyway...sorry for the length...let me know any thoughts...

Well... short of being able to tell you what the problem is, I would not adise removing the knock sensor. Under the slim chance that you do encounter pre-detonation along the line somewhere, the absence of a knock sensor will allow potentially heavy damage to be caused to the engine - not what you want. I would think the reason carb guys don;t have it, is because they also don't have a ECU.
