looking for a little more
I would like a little more hp, but worried about picking the right cam. I know this topic is probably beaten, sorry. With my current mods I'll probably add a new base, either edelbrock or accel. and some high flow runners, either accel or tpis. Also I have the aluminum vette heads, as you probably read
, and I'll get them pocket ported and maybe a three angle valve job with 2.00 int and 1.54 exh. then port match everything. what cam would be good with this combo? then what stall conver? who should I get to burn my new chip? and last but not least what can be expected? I still want her for driving daily around town.
:hail: reliable information

What are you running now? I'd look at the ZZ9 cam. That cam LOVES long tube runner intakes - and over the stock L98 cam with your mods (I'm taking into account your planned head work), I'd say it could pick you up AT LEAST 4 tenths over whatever time your best is now. With all that , I'd go with a 2600 stall... but you should really ask Dana @ Probuilt - he'll take into account all your mods, gearing etc and give you the best estimated stall.

yeah I was thinking of the zz9 also. I may just call comp cams and tell them exactly what i'm doing. that way I can get it as close as possible. because anything less that an exact match is killing your numbers. The only thing that scares me is you never know what kinda day the sales or tech rep is having when you ask for the best cam. I don't want help from a rep thats going to just recomend the cam he's using for his setup because it works well for him
thats why i'm turning to you guys, because most of us have the same motor and close to the same setups.

Yeah... we know a few things about it all, I guess
If that is an honest concern (I never thought about it) then see what other responses you get here, feel it out because I am positive there is more than the ZZ9
Next step after here would be to call Comp. See if the rep's advice matches the cam(s) we suggested.
Final step is to call Comp AGAIN - make sure to get a different rep and see is that rep's advice matches the previous rep's and ours.
Oh yea... then you got to buy the cam
