Big performance & Emissions legal ?

Hey, i've been reading alot of you guy's posts, and man, you guys are making some serious power! I live in California, and the smog laws are pretty strict here. i read that you are deleting your ac & smog pumps. Are any of you living in Northern Cal.? if so, how are you getting your cars to pass smog? I've spent a lot of bucks on the "smog-legal" stuff like Edelbrock TES headers (prefering hooker)and Crane's compucam(prefering COMP's).
you may have seen my last post entitled "stock runners & intake with ported plenum" in that post i listed the parts i've purchased, and i'm concerned that when i get the car running again , it won't pass smog.Due to the porting of the plenum & 58mm throttle body. what do you all think?

It is all in the tuning. A car that is making max power will be burning clean.

I have to disagree, a car can be making max power and still be a huge polluter. It's all about efficiency. The more efficient the engine the lower the emissions. You need good heads with a good combustion chamber design along with all the other items to make them work right. You need a cam without a lot of overlap that allows unburnt mixture to escape. You need a good Cat that cleans up what does get out. You need the emissions system and air pump to oxidize the exhaust coming out of the heads. You need a good ignition system including plugs to get the charge burning and you want it to burn as completely as possible that's why Multiple spark systems work so well and why more powerful ignitions make more power and lower emissions. Also higher compression will usually increase the efficiency and improve emissions. I used to drive a Mustang Mach 1. It was a monster, made huge power, was tuned to the peak of performance but it was a dirty engine, Big honkin Holley carb, Massive Crane Fireball cam, open chamber heads, bad, bad, bad for emissions, but it was powerful. Now my current GTA makes good power, nothing like the Mustang, but it's emissions legal and gets great gas mileage. It can be done, you just have to be smart about it.
