need suggestion

heres the story,
I currently have a '92 tpi 305. I came accross a free '91 tbi truck 350 and i got some 350 tpi injectors and prom. Im a student right now so money is tight till the summer but i still need to get around. I want to stick with my stock tpi for now. I know that these tbi heads are dogs but how will it run on a stock prom for now? Also i dont know the specs on the stock tbi cam.

while i got a thread going. When the summer comes around i want to do the motor how i want. I still didn't make up my mind about the intake but i know i want the holley commander 950 to control everything with my current harness. In the summer i will have access to a full machine shop so i've had ideas of making a superram like plenum and runners(not sure though). i would like to run some vortec heads but spending over 400 bucks on the intake alone kills me. like i said im a student, so the world sportman II looked pretty good and they could fit my tpi intake if i chose to go that route. The plan with this motor is to run low 13s hopefully high 12s.
I know this is pretty broad put ive just been going nuts over this.

the main priority is if the stock prom will run with stock tbi heads and cam.
thanks

My plan is to have a torquey street motor that i could run a pretty tight converter. This is my daily driver. No lt1 swap.

Ive been reading the boards for over a year now you guys have been a great help.

I am pretty sure TPI injectors are a much higher pressure rated injector. TBI runs on like... 7 -11 psi if I recall correctly. TPI runs on an avg of 45psi! I don't know if you can make the TPI injectors work.

Unless I misunderstood you completely and you mean to MAKE a port injection setup. Then assuming everything goes well, I think the TPI chip will need some tuning to achieve gas economy and power.

This might really be a better question to ask on the TBI boards.

sorry for the misunderstanding. All im doin is taking off my whole TPI intake and transfering it over to a 91 TBI longblock. I just wanted to know how it would run with the different heads and cam.
thanks

well I am doing a similar swap from tbi to tpi in my 92 rs. since the units are the same from 305 to 350 everything should swap over no problem. but you will have a few problems here. the 19lb/hr injectors that are stock on a 305 will not be able to run the 350, if you had an adj. fuel pressure regulator you might be able to bump up the fuel rate but you would prob. toast those injectors pretty fast. the 350 tpi's came with 22 lb/hr units. next the chip in your computer will not work. it is calibrated for a 305, if you could get a hold of a stock 350 tpi chip but usually the tbi cams are pretty weak so even still it may not run very well, so either have to get a stock 350 cam or custom chip to fix that. last I would check the knock sensor. cause they used different ones on 305's then 350's. also they may have used different ones for a 305 tbi and 305 tpi, same for 350 so you need to check the boards about this. hope this helps a bit.
