HSR and tuning?

I am interested in buy a HSR Intake and maybe a set of decent heads. I have seen where the stock PROM with the HSR will go very lean higher in the rpm range. I know a burned PROM would be the best, but i can't do that and only person i know of is ED Wright. I have alittle time to get this done before a local streetcar race in 1 month.

Could I install bigger injectors to richen up the mixture so it doesn't go so lean to hurt anything?

What size injectors..24lbs...30lbs?

I know down low it probably won't be the best thing, but i figure that is what the O2 is for and it will pull fuel out of it.

What do you think? I am spraying 175N2O and probably be pilling up later. So I want to make sure the motor is not lean before, before i pill up.

Thanks

Burning a PROM yourself or getting one custom-burned for you is the only right way to go about this. You can get a mail-order custom PROM through PCMforless for $150. Its hard to justify running the stock tune when you can get custom programming so cheap.

True that... there is no good way to skip the prom.

You can get an AFPR and smudge the fuel pressure to band-aid, but it won't come halfway near what the prom will do for you.

get a new prom... and make sure your fuel pump can handle that 175 shot. you also might want to get a MSD Digital-6+ or something of the like to retard your timing so you dont run into any problems with that high of a shot. you dont want to blow your engine and be out of a car for a while

get yourself an AFPR (HSR fuel rail w/ AFPR) and 24# svo injectors with the new prom. When you get your custom chip, they'll tell you where to set the fuel pressure with those injectors. i wouldnt start the car unless I had the new chip in it first.

HSR likes more timing and more fp at higher rpms. You'll definately need a new custom PROM if your going with the HSR. have fun, and enjoy! let us know how everything goes
