Still fighting vapor lock
Still fighting vapor lock
My car always does this at about 230*f. I will hear the pump whine and it sounds like it is cycling on and off and then the car will start to lose power. If I keep going the car will stall and won't restart. If I take the gas cap off fuel will spray out. So far I have replaced the gas tank vent under the car, the gas cap, and checked the valve by the EVAP canister. A guy at Autozone recommended that I remove the fuel pump "pulsator" and replace it with a rubber fuel line. Any suggestions. Also he stated this part was only there to dampen the fuel pump sound, but my pump has been loud since it wen't out and had to be replaced. Is removing the pulsator going to screw up drivability. Also could this problem be related to the EVAP canister? Any suggestions would help. :hail:

When was the last time you changed the fuel filter and is it installed the right way? The pulsator is there to deaden the noise of the fuel pump and replacing it with a rubber hose will not affect the driveability of the car. Just remember to secure the rubber hose to the pump and line with small clamps so they won't separate.
