limits of maf tpi system

assuming the intake, exhaust tranny/stall/gears are capable- what is the largest cam a maf tpi computer can be tuned to handle? i am assuming that a tpi computer can't be tuned quite like an lt1 or ls1 computer can. streetability isnt really an issue- besides the fact it will get driven to and from shows and the drag strip.

Tuning a MAF TPI car is not as simple as tuning an LT1 or LS1. You will not be able to go very big on the cam without getting your computer chip burned. I have read that some guys get away with a LT4 hotcam and no custom burn, but most would recommend a burn with that cam. You will not be able to go any bigger than the Hotcam, I can promise ya that. As for what cam to chose I'm not sure, maybe someone else will know. Have you tried a search, this question has been asked before.

i knew i would have to have a chip burned. thats why i asked what the limits where as far as tuning goes. i didnt think it was possible to tune a tpi computer for as radical of a cam like you can an ls1 or lt1 engine- since the technology of the computers is completely different. what i am asking is- is it possible for my head guy to do more work on my heads and intake than what the computer can handle as far as getting a cam that will take full advantage of all of his work.

There are some MAF, 165 ECMS, have been driven into the 10s. There are alot more of them that have been driven into the 11s.

Thats NA with no power adder.

The computer will handle whatever you want to throw at it.

MAF will handle alot as it is a meter measuring the actual amount of air entering the engine, SD on the other hand used manifold pressure which is greatly affected by cams.

I think you have your question mixed up with speed density systems.
