Accel injectors

I figure we are going to order injectors for our 305tpi/5spd and hope that solves the problem. Stock they should be 19lbs. My husband wants me to order the 21lb ones. Will this be okay? I thought I'd just order the Accel's from Summit since they'd be here sooner. Are they good injectors? I'd like to hopefully have my car running good again this weekend.

They'll be okay ...but since you are going to run 21 lb you're car will be running rich......You'll need to either get your prom chip reprogrammed or you can get away with putting a fuel pressure regulator on and adjusting it that way, best way is to get the chip reprogrammed though. I bought acells but haven't installed them yet..... I have read that the acell injectors are shorter than the stock ones but they still work fine and like any product out there, you'll hear how some people like them and some people don't.

Yeah, I had read somewhere else on here that it may run rich. I may just get the 19lb ones then. I don't want to have him change other things since I'm not sure for sure my missing/idling problem is the injectors. I just want to drive it again!

Hey >> New to the board... I've got a set of 30lb/hr injectors on the way I'll let you know how they do. My engine does have sighificant mods. I'm convinced my current injectors are ticking..sounds like a lifter but it is very intermitant. Also getting a new AFPR.

I also bought 19lbs/hr injectors to redo my '86 IROC over the winter. They fit in nicely. It wasnt that they were shorter, they were just shaped a little bit different. Now, if I could just get my ignition to work properly, id be alright

It is generally understood that the computer will be fine +/- 25% with respect to injector sizes.
At WOT, the computer will run open loop and resort to settings written in the prom which is where you will run more fuel than previously with the 19's...but if your car is breathing a little better than stock you may even see a gain with the larger injectors at WOT. During regular driving and the car warmed up, the computer will be able to compensate for the larger injectors without issue.

Well, we ordered and installed injectors from fivemotorsports and they worked perfectly. Our GTA is up and running better than ever. I'm so glad. We even just purchased a 79 400 4spd.

I put 24# injectors in my old 305. The car ran fine, even past emissions. It ran a WHOLE lot better after I got a chip burned for it.
BTW I drove it for about 6 months with no prom tuning.
My gas mileage went way up and my 1/4 times improved.

I just got my set from fiveomotorsports as well. Did you order the ones selling for $188 US?
There is some question going on right now if they need to be installed with the red cap on the end that goes into the manifold. My guess is that this red cap is part of the injector and not some sort of protective cap that needs to come off prior to being installed...let me know...here's a pic of a different injector but it has the same cap on the top. Let me know if it needs to be remmoved...

Yes, we bought the ones for $188. Ours were pink. I'd have to ask my husband tomorrow. He just installed them on Sunday. I do remember he was concerned that at first they fit loose into the fuel rail until he put the rail back on the car then they fit fine. I'll let you know when I find out.
