Whats the most HP that you have gotten with a semi stock( aftermarket runners, injectors,TB,ect) TPI unit? OR whats the fastest times with a modified TPI you guys have run? I dont want to hear STEALTH RAM OR MINI RAM i like the look of the TPI units and thats what i want or an LT-1. I know you can do an LT-1 intake on a TPI with vortec heads right?

I checked on the whole LT-1 manifold to Vortec head swap and it doesn't work. I think the Vortecs have the wrong bolt angle. I have a semi modded L98 TPI (cam, heads, ported intake in the works) and I'm running 15.4 in the 1/4 and 7.3 0-60 at 3,320 feet.

have you seen the recent issue of car craft? they built a 305 TBI with vortec heads, a good cam, and some TBI induction pieces and it almost made 300 horse and way over 300 ft/lbs. it was quite impressive

I ran my L03 at 3200 ft and went 15.6 in the 1/4. Maybe ill just stick with the TBI if you have 50 more cubes than me and only .2 faster.

Hell yeah, my 305 TPI runs 15.1's at 3100ft with a best of 14.9(drag radials). I don't need cubes
yeah I do.
Very impressive indeed for the TBI. I haven't seen it though I need to go buy that one. Is it still out on the stand?

well, I also have 2.77 rear gear, and that definetly doesn't help my e.t. but my trap speed is 92.5 mph. Once I start moving it pulls really hard, just off the line it sucks. I have raced my friends LT-1 from a roll, and hung with him, but from a dead stop, he waxes me lol

As that happens to all of us Lee. You do have a pretty good trap speed. You should actually be in the high 14's. I have a friend that trps 93mph and runs a 14.7 in his L98 but thats with 3.23's. I would guess its time for a junk yard seach for a 3.42 gear set!

well, it just so happens that a good friend of mine has a wrecked 89 Formula with the 3.45 Borg rear. We are gonna trade. He is going to use my 2.77 on his 1976 chevy LUV. It's a turbocharged 355ci !! My engine is all original too with 211,000 miles on it. I have a set of fully modded heads being ported right now, some nice headers, and an LT4 hot cam coming. Mix that with the gear swap and I better knock down at least mid-low 14's. My car ran 15 flat in the winter time, I'm in New Mexico so it's really hurting my performance with the heat right now.

Damn a turbo'd 355 in a LUV :hail: . Not too shabby. I have seen a LUV down here running a set up like that. I think he runs like 11's or something I can't remember.

Party is what we like to do man! LoL. Yeah your not far from here at all. I thought that the Luv was you all. Well if the shootout me and my club are planning is a go, you all should come out to race. We are planning for the 19th of June. Let me know what you think.
A MiniRam is the way to go. Although I love the way the TPI looks, if I had the cash I would chage to a LT1 or Mini.

hell yeah man, we will definetly try and make it. My IROC will probably be the only one that makes it. We are right in the middle of a complete rebuild on my friends 89 IROC. Sounds great.

Yeah you could. Most that race in the events here run no better than a 15-mid 14. There was a couple of 4's in Feb here that were all motor running 11's so that might be a problem then again they also put about $60,000 into the damn things.

My l98 TPI trapped 99 mph and it was fairly stock. (2200 convertor and a dynomax muffler)
With the headers, ported heads, cam, ported (stock runnered) TPI, and 3.73s it has trapped as high as 105mph.
