Hey guys, great site by the way.. been doing a lot of reading and researching around here and just starting to post now that i've got a tpi system...

Installed my tpi setup this weekend into my '72 K5 Blazer.. Got the Tpi off an '88 camaro which i converted to speed density, the wiring harness and prom is from street and performance..
It's on my 350 9.5:1 300HP/350 Cam: 435/460 lift 212/222 @.050", full length header...

So i start it up tonight... had to adjust the idle screw a bit so it would idle.. i checked the TPS at .54 volts.. also held the throttle open a little, started it for 5 seconds, turned it off for 10 seconds for the IAC...?
Took it for a spin down the street and it started running bad..
Got a code 42 and 43, electronic timing control error and detonation sensor error... I set the timing at about 10 to start with.. i guess i was supposed to set initial between 4-6 degress?
I only set the timing by unpluging the EST plug... Do I HAVE TO jumper the A to B connector before setting the timing!?

Tommorow i'm going to clear the codes, check the fuel psi, and reset the timing...
What should my fuel psi and initial timing be at?
What is the deal with my code 42 and 43?

I gave up on this for tonight, its been a long weekend... any help is greatly appriciated! I know i'm close, but starting to get frusterated...
Gonna get back on this tommorow..

Firstly, welcome to the boards (since no one else seems to have mentioned it).

Finally, the only part of your post that looks vaguely familiar to me is how to go about setting the timing on what I'm assuming is now a computer-controlled vehicle. You were correct to unplug the EST connector before setting the timing; the ECM will reset it later if you don't.

Do NOT start the car with the A and B terminals shorted; you risk damaging the ECM by doing that.

Don't take my word for any of this - keep reading and asking questions. Hopefully someone will jump in here and correct me if any of my info is wrong; I'm not a mechanic by any stretch.

Anyway, I hope my response isn't too late to do you some good.

Code 42 will set when you disconnect the EST wire to set the base timing.
As far as the 43 make sure you are using the correct knock sensor for the ECM you are using.
MAF systems use a 100K ohm sensor and an external ESC module.
MAP(SD) systems use a 3.9K ohm sensor that is connected directly to the ECM which contains the ESC circuitry on the PROM carrier.

I believe fuel pressure should be around 43PSI with vacuum line disconnected from regulator.

Hope this helps.
