How to:Check my fuel pump relay?
Hey guys, im swaping an 87 TPI harness into my car and i went to turn the key and checked the wire and there is no power going to the fuel pump, im thinking its the relay. i wired in the pump but i know its wired right. anyone have any way of checking the fuel pump relay or should i just go buy one and try it if there not expensive? if i cant find the problem im going to wire it directly to the fuse box, so this isnt really critical.
There are two heavy wires going to the fuel pump relay, TAN/WHITE and ORANGE. Pull the relay out of the connector and jumper those two wires. The ignition does not have to be on. If the fuel pump runs, you have a bad relay or the GREEN/WHITE wire from the ECM to the relay is broken or not connected properly. If the pump does not run, you do not have the pump wired correctly or the pump is broken.
If the GREEN/WHITE wire is wired properly, then you don't have igntion power going to the ECM. It's the PINK/BLACK wire in A6 of the ECM. And/or you don't have battery power going to the ECM in B1 and C16. Those are ORANGE wires.

oooooh alright so im not even going to hook that up since im running the LT1 intake anyways, i was also wondering how the ECU gets its power from, is there a part of the whip that goes to the battery? sorry for all the questions, this is my first time swaping from carb to TPI, iv done alot of research but obviously not enough.
B1 and C16 of the ecm (orange wires) are tied into the fuel pump relay, MAF power relay, MAF burnoff relay, and the oil pressure switch. Those wires are tied together and go to a 20 amp fuse near the battery.
