EGR solenoid issues...need help

ok, heres my situation, i have a350 tpi engine, speed density setup and custom modified stand alone wiring harness(90-92). I laid out the wiring around the engine today and every matches up and fits, except for one connector, the one for the EGR solenoid. The egr solenoid i have is from an 88 tpi iroc and looks to use a connector with two round plastic pieces, BUT on the harness the connector labeled for it is like an oval one that is a bit smaller. I dont know if the connector styles changed for the years like some of the other emissions connectors did. I'm close to completeing this TPI swap and little stuff liek this is holding me up. If any one has any idea as to what to do, let em now, otherwise i'll just find a connector that fits my 88 solenoid and splice that in. I also gotta find a diagram of the vacuum hose routing, so if you have anything let me know as well.

Why not just get the right solenoid and put it in there rather than cut up the wire harness by splicing?

well im just trying to find out if there actually are two types of solenoids, or if the guy who made the harness just happened to use the wrong connector.
