Get complete HSR MPFI incl. Commander 950 or do it on the cheap?

I've been considering swapping my TPI set-up for a Hollel Stealth Ram. If money isn't a problem when swapping to Holley Stealth Ram, do you think you should:-

Get the complete HSR MPFI Set-up including the Commander 950 ECM etc. Link below:-
http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLin...FMS/SR/SR.html

Or do it 'on the cheap' and just program your own PROMs etc? Link below:-
http://stealthram.com/costtoswap.html

Do the benefits of the 950 justify the extra cost? Apart from the 'real-time' tuning what other benefits are there?

Does the full HSR set-up come with wide-band O2?

Many thanks for any opinions.

A WB O2 is an option for the Commander 950, but I do not believe that it comes with the complete HSR setup.

The real time tuning is by far the biggest advantage. You can get things figured out much quicker that way. If you're trying to troubleshoot one little thing, having to go home, pop out your chip, go burn a PROM, reinsert the chip, and then go driving again can get a little old. Trust me, I know.

Other than that, the 950 is a SD unit, so 85-89 cars can get rid of their MAF.

Reasons not to buy the whole kit... You probably don't need the injectors, and throttle body. not to mention, if you buy non Holley injectors, I think you can buy the parts individually cheaper.

Reasons TO buy the kit, your converting from TBI and don't want the hassle, big boost, you have money to burn.

Real time programming is now available from http://www.moates.net/ with craig's AutoProm. You'll still need all the chips, adaptar/zif, but the autoprom will program the chips and emulate for real time tuning and scanning. You can use a hac to get most widebands to log through the ECM. The Holley does NOT come with a wideband, and you'd probably have to buy their wideband to make it work which would be major $$$.

Sweet! I've been out of the loop for too long. Hadn't had any money to burn, so I didn't even bother coming to the boards for a couple of years. Looks like this could be fun!

MMM...I was looking to get the whole set-up but was also put off by the fact of having to replace some of the parts.I'll more likely get the HSR base and plenum and cobble together the rest of it,possibly with a Megasquirt of something.Theres nothing like trying to make everything very difficult eh?
