Headers and that metal heater tube on '88 and newer cars.

The tube I'm talking about runs up the passenger side of the frame and connects the heater core, radiator, and coolant diverter valve. I just installed a set of SLP 1-5/8 headers during my motor swap and realized I can't slip that tube back in place now and I'm not sure if they will both fit at the same time.

Does anyone have these headers with that tube, if so how did you put them in? The reason why I ask is because I don't want to pull the headers and risk damaging my new header gaskets, I use the Earl's with the replacable inserts $$.

I put my headers on with the eng in the car. I just unbolted that hose from the frame. Right at the header. Then I heald it as far away from the header as I could get it. Drilled a new hole, and mounted it. I even have a little clearance there
Hope this helps. I'll see if I can get a pic.

Well I pulled the header to get the tube in... and sure enough they touch right where the bolt goes into the SIDE of the frame, not the top. So I'm going to try and bend it away, and cross my fingers.

Maybe we are talking about two different hoses. Mine is mounted on top. I just went out and checked. Oh well, it should be the same to fix. With a big screwdriver, or prybar, anything is possible
Good luck

I'm talking about the black metal tube that has 3 rubber hoses clamped to it. It is bolted to the car in 2 places, the 1 in front is bolted to the top of the frame, and in the rear it is bolted to the side of the frame.

My point was that it touches the header by the rear mounting hole/tab, so bending it is not going to be that easy.

Moving the top one was enough for me. Of course, that was were I was having trouble with it. You are using a different set of headers. I'm not sure how you are going to get that one. Maybe if you had a 90*drill, you could push it up some and relocate the back clamp. Anyways, sorry my fix wasn't what you needed!
