another TPI engine building thread
so tell me the +/- and make recommendations...
'91 L98 stock w/700R4 and 3:23 gears:
not looking to replace anything such as heads, intake, etc. staying basically stock, but would like to know what "effect" an LT4 hotcam w/1.6 rockers and SLP headers will have, or would i have to modify alot of other things to accomodate it? i'm just looking to bump up the hp and torque some, make some nice power. i've been told i would need to change out the torque converter - up to about a 2400/2500 stall, which i can do. i don't really want to have to burn and tune proms. i guess you could say i'm trying to push the envelope keeping it stock. the train is all out of the car, and i would like to get the heads to the shop this week. they are sitting on my bench collecting dust, as is most of the rest of it, but i'm ready to start farming out the work that needs to be done elsewhere. the block itself is staying together, at least for the moment. it was removed to fix all the leaks as well as make it 100% easier to do everything else. it appears to be in good shape still (130k) and you can still see cross hatch lines in most of the cylinders... i was going for a full rebuild earlier, but am headed in the less extreme direction.
