Re: BBK TPI intake setup ($399.00)

One more thing, look at the second picture posted and just under the yellow c-clamp is that the top for the plenum?

Good post BadSS lots of info that sounds about right.

Re: BBK TPI intake setup ($399.00)

Maybe the top of the plenum? Yes good post BadSS. From the new information that changes my thoughts on the subject. I'm now more in agreement with Jerry and BadSS.

On the Vortec issue they may just CNC the manifold and have two programs. One to cut out the intake to fit a Vortech and the other for the standard SBC.

I'd imagine with the runners looking like a superram, they cant move once they're in. The top will likely bolt down and hold it in place from that end.

From BadSS post it sounds like you bolt the plenum down with a spacer at the four fuel rail bolts.

Check this out, looks like edelbrock has something new up their sleeve as well.

Note page 5.....WTF is that? It reminds me of the ramjet. Maybe edelbrocks response to the HSR???

I like the idea of being able to use the stock fuel rail. I'm looking into a head/cam combo next spring. So I'm very interested.

Come on guys, these things take time. Three years is not that long in the R&D world. GM spent three years on the LS1 and look how that turned out.

Re: BBK TPI intake setup ($399.00)

3 yrs in the R&D world is like a decade to the rest of us. GM spend 3 yrs developing a whole engine, meeting emissions, power, and NHV requirements. BBK is just not going to finish this manifold in the next few months. It is obviously a very low priority project for them. If we see it by next fall I would be surprised.

Re: BBK TPI intake setup ($399.00)

Just so everyone knows, BBK is NOT listening. We're dead last back burner and I've already gave up and went with the Stealth Ram. I'de recommend everyone else do the same. Come on guys we're waiting on a performance intake that's being built for a setup that came out in the early 80's! 22 years of R&D... not bad BBK keep up the good work

or people that like style and performance and not just a plastic intake manifold sitting on top. speed has lost it's sexiness with the ls1, the tpi is dead sexy.

Alright guys.

Here is the catalog pic that we will be using for the TPI intake when it becomes available.

Keep in mind that minor tweaks are still being performed, but this is what the overall appearance will be-

It has an EGR. Look at the pictures from Horsepower TV in the earlier post. This is just a different style of a Superram. I wonder does it flow better than a Superram?

Can we get some measurements on the runners and base entrance and exit?

CSA, even some flow numbers would be nice, if you have them.

Thanks

Re: BBK TPI intake setup ($399.00)

Some further comments. Interesting design.

I could be wrong but it looks like some of the plenum bolts are installed from the bottom. If so you might want to consider having them come in from the top unless they are real easy to install while on the motor.

Looks like it might be a good transition from the plenum to the runners. The shorter runners will help bring up the rpm range over stock. Maybe you have tapped into the 3rd harmonic wave. I would also be interested in the questions that Dyno Don asked.

Thank You for bringing out a TPI product. Hopefully you will make a lot of sales.

Re: BBK TPI intake setup ($399.00)

yea if nothing it else it has looks on every othe mpfi choice but the stock setup. Looks like the super ram and and tpi had a kid. Named angelina jolie. The bolts do come from the bottom but look at the casting they are all around the edge of the manifold, easier to get to then the stock ones, looks like a four peice design, top bottom left and right just like the stock one but with the plenum spilt in half making porting an such much easier assuming theres enough.

Axle/Gears: 3.70 Nine Bolt
Re: BBK TPI intake setup ($399.00)

I just noticed the angle of the 2 and 4 runners on the top of the plenum. Plus the wall from the side of the throttle body is not straight back to the number 2 runner. Interesting. Maybe something going on inside the plenum that we cannot see.

Re: BBK TPI intake setup ($399.00)

looks sweet, I planed on pulling the trigger for a TPIS bigmouth and AS&M runners, but I'm going to wait to see if this comes available soon.

Numbers looks great for a stock L98 on top. With only BBK TPI & headers on a stock L98, high to mid 13s will be the norm.

For some that are busting BBK chops, shut up and be thankful BBK coming out with another performance product for our cars

Re: BBK TPI intake setup ($399.00)

the last pic brian posted looks like something i was thinking about haveing custom made as tpi's problem was small plenum and long runners
now depending on price and if you can use the stock fuel rail it really be something id be interested in just for some reason isnt as pretty as stock tpi
but hey if it lets these engines pull top end better without a huge lowend loss count me in

Here is a copy of a reprint in GM High-Tech Performance
Some numbers to chew on for TPI setups

Use these for comparison only.
