Fuel Injector Cleaning
Well I am researching porting my plenum and installing an AFPR on my 5.0 litre TPI engine. Recently, a rebuilt 5.0 litre GM long block was installed (with a Comp Cam) and the original TPI set up was swapped over, which now has about 205,000km on it. I am the original owner. So I thought I should consider fuel injector cleaning while I was doing this project. I e-mailed Cruzinperformance and here is their response:
Hi Raymond,
If the injectors you have are the originals, they will be the first design
Multecs. Those injectors have the highest failure rate of any injector GM
ever installed on the TPI engines. They are not worth servicing and with the
mileage you have on them, you will be much better off replacing them rather
than spending any money on having them cleaned. You're lucky that they have
made it as far as they have. It's not a matter of "if" they are going to
fail but simply a matter of "when" they will.
I only service injectors and don't sell them outright. There are plenty of
companies that do however so I would suggest just shopping around to find
the best price.
Thanks for inquiring about my services anyway. Sorry I can't be of help with
those but that's just the way it is with them.

So I did a search of fuel injectors and found the recent posts about SLP fuel injectors for $99. I have been told by a few sources that I should stick with 19lb/hr fuel injectors. I guess I should budget for new fuel injectors instead of cleaning for this project. Comments anyone on this information.

Looks like they (Cruzin) gave you good information instead of just taking your money.
I would suggest that maybe you can find a set of the Non-Multec 19 lb/hr injectors and send them in for cleaning. I think they were used in the 85-88 305 TPI's. There should be plenty of them laying around from people that have upgraded their cars.
