89 5.7 tpi chip
I am wondering if there is a way to bypass the VATS in this 89 chip I have so I can temporarily run it in my 87 MAF cold start no VATS system?

Yes it's very easy. A simple "toggle"of the bit switch. The only thing that you need to do is disable the Cold Start Injector on your 87 TPI as the 89 code does not use the CSI.

What exactly do you mean by "toggle" of the bit switch?
How do I do this?
What tools do I need?

You will need to be able to burn your prom. There is a section on this forum for it. https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/for...?s=&forumid=16 READ ALL THE STICKYS'!!
I just downloaded the stuff about 10 days ago and it is not very hard to do what you want. Now the more advanced stuff is a little harder but there is lots of info out there if you dig around.

Think of it this way. You can go and waste a lot of money on "custom eproms" written by someone and never really have a great running eprom. Or, you can invest that same cash into getting all the equipment and do it yourself.
