Car wont start. no fuel?
Hello everyone, i recently changed the harness in my camaro(87 tpi harness) and now i seem to not be able to get the car running, it has fuel pressure(50psi w/ a turn of the key) but the relay doesnt seem to be working, so i got another new relay and it doesnt seem to kick on all the time, almost like when it wants to, but if i hook it up direct itll pump, but thats not the problem im having right now. the engine is getting spark and i took a connector off the fuel injector, one on each side and i turned the key on with a test light on each side of the connector, both had power, on both sides. is this right? i thought one side is supposed to be grounded? well when i put gas in the TB itll fire up. otherwise it wont. i seemed to get it running at first but it just stalled out.
so its getting spark, fuel is going through the fuel rails but just not getting to the motor, the injectors when i bought them were tested and cleaned and the car was previously running before i changed the harness. anyone have any ideas?

The injectors always have power when the key is on, the ECM will ground the circuit to "fire" them. Best bet would be to get a noid light, available from most parts stores, and see if you are getting injector pulse. (light flashes when cranking) Not sure if you can test this with a test light or not, never having tried......
My guess is that you are not getting injector pulse though, need to find out why, I don't have my manual handy at the moment, but, check the electrical connectors at the dist, to be sure they are tight. I would highly recommend getting the service manual (factory, not chiltons....) for your car, as it has a wealth of information and troubleshooting guides. I love mine....

well i sort of figured it out, with the old harness i could hold it at 2200 rpm and then have someone mess with the dist wires and it would idle up to 3k all by itself. thats with the old harness, now i get the same thing with the new one but worse it will cut right off when running so either i have a bad connection in the module(its new) or the connector on both harnesses arent very good, they look fine but im gonna take the dist. apart and check it out in there.

Given that information, I would suspect either module, or pick-up coil. Replace 'em both while you are in there. Certainly can't hurt, and they are not that expensive.
