MSD harness 8876 problem

OK, there's several threads, and no one mentions this problem. Maybe I'm just missing something here.

My harness 8876 has the following. The big black dual connector (2 pink, 2white). They have the spliced connectors that plug into the MSD box. Then there are the orange and black wires that would come OUT of the MSD box, and they go to the black connector that goes to the coil. That's it. Where's the OTHER half? Where' the GRAY connector that goes to the coil?

....unless only HALF the coil gets hooked up?

I figured that HAD to be the answer, but I couldn't find anywhere that said for sure.

I have the MSD pic showing only half the coil getting hooked up, but you think they might've mentioned it somewhere

...anyway, thanks for the quick reply!

I've been struggling with the same thing.
I found that the OEM connections are like this:
Grey connector :
12 awg pink comes from switched power
18 awg white goes to tach filter (dash)

Black connector:
18 awg pink goes to the + terminal of dist module
18 awg white goes to the "C" terminal on dist.
This is a two pin harness

The hookup for the MSD "Should" be like this
1.) take both white wires from the distributor (black and grey connectors) and connect them together and hook to the MSD "Black" wire

2.) take both "pink" wires (black and grey connectors) and connect them together and hook to the MSD "orange" wire

3.) "C" distributor terminal from distributor "White", join with tach filter and connect to the MSD "White" wire

4.) "+" distributor terminal "pink" wire joins to switched ignition power and connect to MSD "Red" wire.

5.) add power and ground wires to the MSD box and run!

Note: both side of the remote dual connector coil are connected.
The info on the connection of the dual connector coil is not very explanatory from MSD so I did alot of investigation to insure it was right.

Info for harness parts when doing this without the adapter harness:
Grey connector is Delco #PT166 (GM#12101896)
Black connector is NOT sold by GM, very hard to find (boneyard is best) I did find 2 companies but could not locate distributors for it.
"Car-Pak" mfg # 94-7306
"PICO" of Canada # 5632

The two pin dist connector is Delco # PT169 (GM#12039177)

I'm building adapter harnesses so if the MSD dies I can switch back to OEM in a matter of seconds, that way I don't butcher up the new harness I just built last year.

I got it working tonight!

The hardwire diagram was pretty easy, but I used the harness and the diagram only showed one connector on the "dual" connector coil which I thought was weird.

Took 2 minutes.

clean install

Does using that adapter harness look like a kludge?
Seems to me there would be a bundle of junk in the back there when using it. (sticking up everywhere?)
I'm trying to make the wiring look clean, So I've over-anaylized the problem. Or have I ?
