Max RPM? 350TPI

Hi!
I am just done whith my swap from 305TBI to 350TPI and i can only say it was worth it,the car runs real strong and the tourqe is like day and nigth compere to the 305.
I wounder how far i can pull a stock tpi engine,i have let it go to 5000rpm so far but it seems to have more to give.
I dont now the exact mile on the car but the early owner say that it was a strong pulling car before he crashed it.
By the way can someone rekomend any shiftkit to the car.
Thanks!

I've went over 6k RPMs on the dyno with no problems. Many people go past that, course on a TPI there's not usually a need even to go past 5k.

Here was my sheet for my 350, very similar mods to yours. TPIs are made to peak in the 4500 to 5000 RPM range, unless you've done porting, heads, cam, etc.

For a shift kit I've owned both the TransGo and the B&M kits. By far the TransGo is more complete. It has more parts and fixes additional problems such as the RPM flare during the 2nd to 3rd shift that the B&M kit failed to fix. IMO it's worth the extra money.

The above chart is probably very similiar to your car. However here locally with a modified TPI and cam Jerry Myer shifts around 6200 rpm for best track times. With my setup I have the shift point set for 6000rpm for the 1-2 shift and 5600rpm for the 2-3 shift. Others in our 3rd gen club are shifting in the high 5000 range. Again we have modified our TPI along with other modifications. Allen

Thanks for the replay,i will let it go up to 6000rpm and se whats happend,i am wery pleased whith the engine i just wish that i havent spend so much time and money on that 305.
I will drive this engine stock this summer byt i have an LT1 cam and a compcam in the garage, and maybe my ported 305TPI heads will be fine whith that combo.
Thanks again.
