Bad ECM?

I'm stumped on this one... anybody lend a hand?

87 Trans Am (305 TPI) seemed to be normal when parked. Wouldn't do anything but crank the following morning. I've been trying to diagnose the problem, replaced some components in the process, but getting nowhere.

Anyway, I'm getting no spark, and don't believe that the injectors are getting any signal. Can't hear them, and can't register anything at the connectors to them. Also, I can't find any signal on the wires between the distributor and the ECM. It's as if the ECM is not providing any of the 'pulsed' type switching or signals that it should be.

Also, the fuel pump does prime, and I have fuel at the rail.

Don't know what to do except try another ECM....

Any thoughts? I threw some parts at it early on when I realized I had no spark....coil, module, cap, and rotor.

Thanks,
Mike

Thanks,

Getting fuel but... do you have volume and pressure..?
hook gauge up to fuel rail jumper aldl terminal g with fused jumper key on to 12 Volts check pressure

do you have 12Volts going to pcm.? did you check pick up coil under rotor..?

No vats on the '87...

I don't have a fuel pressure gauge, but my crude estimate is that it 'seems' ok...

did not check the pick up coil, as I had no signals to or from the distributor at the ecm.

yes, 12V to the 'puter. Picked up another, I'll try it this afternoon and see if that solves it.

Thanks both,
mike

For closure....

bad pickup coil. the coil tested infinite resistance (open), so I put in a new distributor. would have just replaced the pickup coil for cheaper, but couldn't get the roll pin out that holds the drive gear on the end of the distrib. shaft...

you called it noha!
