Vacuum Woes
So I finally get around to seeing why I keep getting an EGR code in diagnostics. I go to take a look at my vacuum lines and they desintegrate in my hands. So I go and buy new vacuum lines and I even have this handy diagram on my hood that tells me how to route all the lines. Here's what I find strange. I have the main vacuum line that goes into the canister pulling a constant 15 inches. Though, no matter what I do, I can get no vacuum to come out of the canister. From what I read, at some point (above idle) there is supposed to be some amount of vacuum applied to the EGR, but if I trace those lines back to the canister, I can't find any vacuum whatsoever. In a nutshell, my vacuum stops at the canister and I don't know why.

It (the ECU) might not be applying vacuum due to no load (neutral), or no vehicle speed. Try replacing the vacuum lines, and reset the ECU trouble codes (disconnect the battery for a few seconds, should be immediate, but might as well give it a minute disconnected). Then see if the check engine light returns after some driving. If so, recheck to make sure it's the same code. If not, well, you're done.
Good Luck.
