VORTEC heads on stock lower intake???
hi i've seen lots of modification of lt-1 intake on tpi motor...but is it possible to modified stock tpi intake to fit vortec heads...worth it or should pay for SDPC itake adaptor? im running stock 081 LB9 heads on 355cu/in cammed. other sugestion for additional pony and help power at higher rpm...nothing after 4000:S

This has gone on for years. NO The Vortec head intake ports are like .180" higher than standard Gen I 23* SBC heads. It was made possible before the sdpc intake was out but it is not worth your money to try it your self.

Well $900 the Vortec Head and SDPC Vortec intake is prolly the best bang for the buck. Figure in Getting you heads reworked, parts and then a porting your intake or buying an aftermarket you prolly still come out better with the SDPC combo. If i could afford it I would be all over the vortec TPI. Good Luck

If you have no power after 4000 than you have a lot more wrong with your motor than heads. I am running the sister heads to your 081s, the 416s (same 305 1.84/1.5 58cc head but not center bolt valve covers) and I am shifting at 6000+ on my stealth rammed 327. Peak hp is around 6200. The TPI is your big brick wall to making any kind of revs -- you can have great heads and the helmholtz tuned runner setup is still going to give max cylinder fill at like 4800 rpms and then die.
