I think I'm gonna hit the track for fun in 2 weeks. I won't do burnouts at all. I will not change my tires or anything. I just wan't to do some bracket racing.

The guy that do the work on my car say I should run full synthetic oil in my car if I'm gonna drag race it. I always used normal 5w30 oil and my car have 117 000 original miles. My car doesn't burn any oil except when I start the car and it's been a a while it do a puff of smoke (valve seals)... So do you think running 5w30 full synthetic will be good or will make my engine consume oil after that? If I should use it, wich brand is the best? Can I buy only the cheapest full synthetic? I heard the filter is more important than the oil because the oil as to meet a certain quality today.

dont wait till you see the green light go on the yellow before the green by the time you move foward and trip anything the green light would have lite.

doesnt really matter on the oil. Cheap full syn oil? you aint gonna find it...its all about 4 to 5 bucks a quart.

 

So you are saying I could run regular oil with no problem or I should still get full synth?

 

Why go cheap with oil? You can change your oil every 4-5 thousand miles, thats like $30 every few months, not alot considering what you spend on everything else. Full synthetic is not necessary for racing, but it doesn't hurt. Synthetic particles are smaller from what I read so it can get into tighter spots, but you may cause oil leaks that weren't there before. Mobil 1 seems to be popular. But once you change you can't go back.

 

So If I buy regular 5W30 ACDelco oil and an ACDelco filter, I won't have any problem? I don't wan't to create oil leakage anywhere.
