TPI LSA Acceptance...

I need to know ASAP, I have a 1986 IROC-Z 305 TPI all stock... Now, I am wondering how big of an LSA I can go without messing up the Computer and all??? I went to Super Chevy today and am goin back later, I talked to a Comp Cams representative at the event and I asked him what was the biggest cam I could get with a stock motor and the one he gave me to look at is a 110 LSA... That should work eh??? Thanks!

110 will work, but 112 seems to be a safe point. 110 just seems too low to get the computer to be "ok." Not saying don't get the cam, but it might need a little Prom tweaking. Could you be more specific on the cam? Like duration, and lift?

110 will work fine depending on what the duration is of the cam lobes. You'll need it to be pretty tight in the 210-215 @ .050 angle area to be happy without a PROM burn I would imagine.

112 could get you into the 220-225 duration area perhaps.

I run a 114 at 224, It runs on the stock tune, and runs well under WOT, but it needs a burn to make it happy when driving under normal conditions. Never stalled out, but ran pretty darn rich and searched for idle.

Interesting as their "new" XFI cams (Xtreme Fuel Injection) are on 112 and 113 LSA's. These were designed for computor controlled fuel injection cars. Not saying the cam won't work but like was said will take some more prom tuning.

How about this cam??? Would this give me a noticable difference in idle as well???

You have to look it up on www.summitracing.com
