Hard Start & Oil Pressure Gauge Problems
I have a 88 with TPI somethimes it will start right up but most time I have to crank the hell out of it ( 45 + secs. ) and when is starts it stumbles then slowly smooths out? Also my oil pressure gauge bouces all over 30 to off the scale, this is all the time. I know one doesn't have anything to do with the other. Any suggestions?

Do some searches.
The first problem could be caused by a bunch of things. Have you checked your fuel pressure? Done any ignition work lately?
The second problem is most likely a failing pressure sending unit (site on the back of the block behind the oil filter). Easy swap, ~$15-$20.

Replace the fuel pump relay (should hear the fuel pump for 2 seconds when you turn the key to the on position) and oil pressure sending unit (this is also a backup switch for the relay, turns on the fuel pump when oil pressure is above 4psi).

I had the same problem, minus the oil pressure gage problems. I had leaky injectors. Next time it's cranking and cranking, give the pedal a 75% push and see if it starts quicker.

I will change the oil sending unit this weekend.
