searching idle
My car seems to have a searching idle...like itll idle for alil bit and then raise and idle there for awhile...then ill rev and itll go back to down. It seems this only happens when the timings at 12...but it runs best then. I checked and tightened all the intake bolts, my ignition grounds are good, i cleaned the iac, no codes.
any suggestions?

Assume it worked fine before the rebuild?
I see you seem to have a host of other issues with it now...did it all start after the new motor?
Might be best to list'em all in one thread...
Also, by any chance did you have to jump the car to get it going with the new motor? If the battery is weak and the engine is running off Alternator power without a decently charged battery, you will get a high/low idle surge.
I notice in another post you mentioned checking the grounds, after a rebuild, things are usually painted, which inhibits good contact...so you may need to scrape some paint behind the heads where all the sensor and ECM ground tie...as well as make sure the small braided strap is in from intake??.head to the firewal on the pass side rear of the engine.

Ok i solved my big problem today...it was throwing code 43 and my fan wasnt going on...found out my plug for knock sensor and the fan swtich were mixed up lol...so the car runs good now...still no fans..i think the wire is dead. Neway..i KNOW the connection to my battery is bad...the positvie side on the battery is pretty much stripped out and doesnt connect very well...so i think i just found my problem:
. but neway Yes the cam was fine when it was pulled (a machine shop rebuilt this for me, he said the cam was perfectly fine)

That's cool, but a lot of times some things show common issues...so if all problems can be seen, could point to one thing...maybe not, but maybe so
Looks like you've got some things going, and you need to fix the broken stuff them move along to the others.
