The angle of the 2 center intake bolts change sometime over the years but I'm not exactly sure when. The older intakes will swap with the newer one (and vice versa) by elongating the 2 center intake bolt holes.

85-89 TPI used the MAF setup and 90-92 used the MAP (speed density) setup. Basis of either setup has been hotly debated. Either setup is a good setup.

Various parts are different between the years. 85 - 88 use a 9th injector for the cold start. 89 deleted this and used the 8 injectors themselves to enrichen the cold start (choke).

The MAF system uses the sensor to measure airflow and the MAP sensor calculates airflow. Both are good systems. The MAF system will tolerate more changes (cam, heads, headers, etc) without the need for a new chip. It won't be optimim just like swapping a new carb without tuning the jets, etc. It will run, just not to the max potential. If you get into prom tuning, that won't be an issue though.

Just make sure you have a matched system.
