Fuel Line Size
My question is, what do you think is the max amout of HP with a after market fuel pump, say a holley 155lb hr can the stock lines support without fuel starvation. I have checked the boards and never seen this discussed. I know this can be a problem on a carbed engine but did not know if we run into that problem with TPI set ups with the fuel pressure that we run. I was just currious about this because im building a small 383 thats for my every day street use and a little strip, and wanted to know if I need to install larger lines and pump pick up. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP....

Thanks for your help. I should be ok then im running just a small kit that will put me a little over but just for a few seconds. If I raise the pressure do you think it will supply enough. And also has anyone run into a strarvation problem with there set up. THANKS.
Im not too familiar with your pump, but, I use an Aeromotive A1000, and if you use somthing this powerful, stock lines will not cut it. On the stock fuel rails, the line that comes right off the regulator, has a sharp bend in it. You will never get your fuel pressure down to a normal PSI, unless you modify your lines. That bend will keep your FP in the 50 PSI range. Just thought I'd mention that.

I ran 3/8 line to the pump and then -8 from the pump to the regulator. My pump sucked the 3/8 line dry and starved the motor. The factory line is 3/8 and my motor only made 430hp. Working on a 1/2 in-tank pickup and all -8 to the pump now.

I've got the stock 3/8 line out of the tank to the pump. Then '8 all the way to the regulator with -6 to the carb. I think the problem lies with the 3/8 hose from the tank. Made a pickup out of -8, through a bulkhead fitting in the sending unti with -8 to the pump and the problem has gone away. Before the upgrade I would lose fuel pressure halfway through third gear at WOT.
