need some help

ok, i just purchased an 1987 Trans am 305 tpi, n im looking for a new motor to drop in, now here is the real question, i wuz wondering, could i use the same computer from my 305 for a 406?? bcuz i found a motor that i want and ill just keep it TPI probably, i just need to know if it would be ok to do this

You can use the same ECM. The MEMCAL/PROM will have to be reprogrammed for your setup. When you finally determine the injectors you will use and the rest of the details of your build, the PROM can be burned - At least, something close enough to get it running right can be burned.

Since the '87 used a MAF, you may experience some trouble feeding a 400-inch engine through a factory MAF. Once you get it running right, you may want to consider addressing the MAF restriction. You could also bite the bullet now and get a later style ECM and switch to speed/density at the same time you switch the block.
