#1 dist. cap terminal
Which terminal is the #1 on the distributer caps which starts the firing order? Does it matter? If so or not, why? Please explain using my pic. I know the firing order and how to index the distributer.

I understand that Vader, but the cap turns. How do I know the exact position the distributer cap should be in to match up with that diagram and firing order?

EDIT: Oh. I now see you have a '92. That will have a separate ignition coil (smaller diameter cap) and therefore it makes little difference how the distributor is installed. Simply position the wires on the cap in their correct relative locations, and set the base timing as usual. If the wires are not in the correct positions, just move them all an equal number of terminals in the correct direction.
If the distributor has been removed and not installed in the factory orientaion, you're going to be starting from scratch. Actual position is really not critical.

when you find TDC(finger in whole method, and drop the dist in, #1 is which ever post you point the rotor at. If you want a different order to your wires, simply pull the distributor and re-install after turning it to where you want it. - no, it doesn't matter which post you use, as long as you start w/ #1 and then 8436572...

I didnt read any of the responses, sorry.
Simply, when you have #1 piston @ FTDC and have inserted the dizzy, the rotor MUST point in the #1 terminal. So, in effect, it all depends on how you drop the dizzy in!!!!!!!!!!!
